What is First Careers all about?
It can be a bit worrying choosing GCSE and A Level subjects, let alone further education choices, especially when you don’t know what job you want yet. It doesn’t have to be.
There are thousands of interesting opportunities and organisations all around the world. They may need someone just like you to come and work for them in a few years’ time. It’s just a matter of finding out what’s out there, what interests you, what you would be suited to and what skills you will need.
That’s where First Careers comes in.
Careers inspiration
While you’ve been busy at school, we’ve been busy checking out hundreds of organisations to discover the most interesting jobs. From a video game sound designer, to a food and drink manager on a cruise ship, to a football photographer, we’ve met real people with real jobs, so you can see for yourself what they do each day.
Careers advice with a difference
Our honest job profiles give a taste of what it would be like to land your dream job, plus many of our interviews are carried out by young people, so you get the lowdown on the things that matter most to you (like, whether maths is really important, after all).

PARENTS!
If you’re not sure how to start a conversation about careers, or how to advise your children on possible careers they may be suited to, why not sit down as a family to watch a few short films, or read some of our day-in-the-life job profiles, then use them to talk about possible career options? Career aspirations start earlier than you think, so it’s good to get kids thinking about their futures.
TEACHERS!
Looking for ways to introduce careers advice? Watch our videos in class or print out some job profiles to kick off a discussion about the types of jobs your pupils might be interested in. First Careers is a digital outreach program that brings careers inspiration into your classroom and helps give subjects real world meaning.
Work Experience Opportunities
